CPEX 2009 Award - Best Practice


The Canadian Project Excellence Awards for Best Practices was presented to Ambassador Fine Custom Homes Inc. There are only five awards presented per year, and this was the only residential project across Canada that won; the rest were Hospital and Bank projects. This is the highest award in Project Management Excellence that can be bestowed upon a recipient.

The Canadian Home Builders Association presented Ambassador Fine Custom Homes Inc. with the very prestigious Best New Custom Home in Canada Above 5000sf SAM Award. In the home building industry, this is the highest honour that a builder can achieve.

Judging criteria for SAM New Home Awards include the following:

Curb Appeal – the overall attractiveness of the exterior of the new house on its lot.

Planning and Design Effectiveness – focusing on the functionality of the floor plan and creative use of space, the overall appeal of the interior, key features and amenities, use of materials and products, environmental features and special design considerations such as accommodation for accessibility, visitability or special needs.

Construction Technology – including measures to increase the quality of construction, enhance the comfort of the residents and address specific environmental concerns. The judges look atthe building envelope, basement, ceiling and roof, mechanical systems and issues related to indoor air quality.

Overall Value for Cost – this focuses on the overall value for the cost of the entry, based on how well it meets the judging criteria and the overall construction cost.
